South African Tech Innovation Gathering at Wilson Sonsini

South African innovators, entrepreneurs, and business leaders are increasingly visible in Silicon Valley with new venture models, offshoring capabilities, intellectual property and investment opportunities. Not only is South Africa an entry point to a growing African market, but it is home to talented technologists, researchers, engineers, programmers, digital media developers, mobile apps specialists, and IT integrators supporting growth and expansion across the continent.

You are invited to join members of the Silicon Valley based SABLE Network on Thursday, May 8 in Palo Alto, California at the law firm of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. The function will be sponsored by Brand South Africa and will extend from 5pm to 8pm at WSGR's offices, which are at 650 Page Mill Road, Palo Alto 94304. You will have the opportunity to update on new South African technologies, incubator and accelerator developments, and emerging growth companies entering the U.S. market.

SABLE (South African Business Link to Experts) is a trusted knowledge network of global South Africans providing mentoring and consulting services to South African companies, entrepreneurs, and institutions seeking to fund or commercialize innovation, as well as enter, grow, and partner in worldwide markets.

SABLE will be announcing a strategic collaboration with the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and introducing Prof. Barry Dwolatzky, the head of the Joburg Centre for Software Engineering at Wits. Below are links to Barry's bio and a story on his ambitious plans to build a new tech innovation hub near the Wits campus in Braamfontein. This will be the first and only tech incubation environment in Johannesburg. It will have digital video links to a new South African Technology Innovation Center at The SABLE Network offices in San Jose, allowing live video interactions between tech innovators in South Africa and domain experts in Silicon Valley.
