Triggerfish

Triggerfish Animation Studios is a Cape Town-based media and entertainment company. We employ more than 100 of Africa’s most talented animators, visual artists, and developers. Our first feature film, Zambezia, features the voice talents of Samuel L. Jackson, Abigail Breslin, Leonard Nimoy, and Jeff Goldblum. Zambezia is South Africa’s most widely distributed feature film and was picked up by Sony Pictures for distribution in English-speaking territories. Zambezia was selected for screening at the prestigious Annecy International Animation Film Festival and won the Best Feature Film category at the Durban International Film Festival in 2012. Our second feature film, Khumba, is due for release in 2014.

Triggerfish Animation Studios is developing an ecosystem of interactive apps, eBooks, merchandise, and casual games deeply integrated with our films’ intellectual property (IP). Using the publicity generated by our films, we will take advantage of the rapidly growing proliferation of platforms and devices on which people consume media—including smartphones, iPads, Facebook, the iStore, Netflix, Hulu, and Video on Demand to offer something for everyone.

About Stuart Forrest

Stuart Forrest, CEO of Triggerfish Animation Studios, is a finalist for South Africa’s 2012 Sanlam/Business Partners Entrepreneur of the Year award, a testament to the recent strides made by his company in the African animation industry. Forrest has more than 15 years of production experience in animation and is a producer on Zambezia and Khumba. He has a BTec Fine Arts degree (cum laude) from Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.
